| Well, I haven't written in ages. Mostly its because since my last entry I've actually had to become a real banking analyst and work real banking hours. All of this was a bit of a shock to me and it has taken me a while to come to grips with my new working lifestyle and schedule. All in all the past 5 months or so haven't been too bad. I think I've learned a lot about myself and about how crazy my life can really get. The excessive working and partying I've been doing has been nice in some respects. At least when I get older I can say that I really lived it up for a brief moment. But on the other hand I think I'm ready to try to get back to a more normal lifestyle.
As for what's next, I have no idea. All I know for now is that I'm going to take a nice 2 week vacation during the X-mas holidays and then figure things out from there. Luckily, my 5 month stint as a real banking analyst hasn't made me too bitter or turned me into a complete ahole.
Oh well, things always have a way of figuring themselves out.
| After one year on the job I have learned only one thing. That life is completely unfair. Good people get screwed and some people just get really lucky. Fortunately, for me I fall into the latter category. But unfortunately, I know quite a few people in the first category. Funny how work mirrors real life. | | |
| Ah the beauty of downtime. What a bittersweet state it is. On one hand its great to do nothing on the other hand too much downtime makes you go crazy. Well here's what I've done in my marathon of downtime. I'm currently in my 3rd day. But if you talk to Jeffiedakid he'll say I'm in my 11 month of it.
1) Pondered on whether I should change my Xanga site because it looks plain. I ultimately decided not to. 2) Made a nice Excel spreadsheet of my vacation itinerary home to the states 3) Went to the gym 4) Figured out the playlist for CD's I wanted to make 5) Caught up on all my personal emails 6) A couple of trips to get boba 7) Countless half hour power naps 8) Figured out my sporting activities for the weekend 9) Checked my friendster site 10) Stared at my computer screen waiting for something to blow up 11) Sat around at my desk waiting to get the nice "hey let's catch up" call. It never happened. 12) Tried to figure out what new pencil trick I could try to invent 13) Slept some more at work
| Friendster.com (this is not intended to be a plug for the site)
So as of late I've been struck with Friendster.com fever. What it is is a site where you can "meet" people through other friends. It sort of works like 6 degrees of separation. Everytime you add a friend you are connected to their friends and so on and so forth for about 4 or 5 degrees. In any case this site has made me into a worktime voyeur of my friends' friends. Its really actually quite strange how time consuming it can be trying to check out your friends' random other friends. And in many ways its sort of cool to see a bunch of people that you somehow know indirectly. So far I have about 18 friends and am somehow conencted to over 4,000 people. Of which I expect to meet 0 face to face. Hey but that's the beauty of it all. And that's what gets everyone hooked. You can just search through your friends' friends' and just see what people look like and have the satisfaction that you somehow can meet this person. To be honest it really is pathetic that I spend time, a significant time I might add, at work looking through this site. But nevertheless it creates a nice diversion in my otherwise bizarre life.
| Ahh another birthday down. Who knows how many more to go. Interesting age to be. I guess I'm still considered in the early 20's age bracket. In any case I had a pretty swell time last night. It was great to see everyone out and to hang out with friends. | | |
